These 5 Tips Will Save You Years of Practice
In this video I will go over 5 practice shortcuts I did not have when I started out as a jazz saxophone player.
Follow these leads and get an instant boost in your development.

When I look back thinking about how I started to play saxophone and jazz music, often I think – If I had known that then!

Mostly we did not know that.
But hopefully I can give you what I did not have – exactly that knowledge.

This is how to connect the scales to the chords

This is how to connect the scales to the chords
Getting from playing rather simple chord note solos using a couple of chord notes to using scales and playing longer lines within the scales is a thing.
Chord scale relationships are one of the fundamentals in playing jazz.
You have to know this when playing jazz.
Connecting the scales to the chords is the way to develop your solos.

MASTER THESE techniques ON ANY STANDARD

Here are the technical and melodic tools you should master on any standard
Blue Bossa, Perdido, Autumn Leaves, Blues, Pent up House
Beginning with 5 basic standards is a great way to start improvising.
I have chosen 5 standards which are relatively easy to begin with.
Easy melody and easy chords.
What do you need to know and what tools do you need to master to play a solo on a jazz standard.
On each standard I present one or more technical and/or melodic tools you should work on, to be able to play a good jazz improvisation on each tune.
Get all skills going on each tune and you have the first 5 tunes in the pocket.

4 tips on how to play amazing solos on minor chords
In jazz music there are so many tunes where you have long stretches of minor chords on which you should solo.
Just playing a Dm7 tends to get a bit tedious after a while.
Getting more vocabulary playing minor chords is both important for one or two bars and on long stretches of minor chords.

Visualize and silent practice – Get the most out of your practise in this way

Visualize and silent practice – Get the most out of your practise in this way
Many saxophone players do not have the possibility to practise at home with sound. This is a huge obstacle in the development of playing and in the pleasure of playing.

I have used visualizing and silent practise for many years. This has given me the possibility to grow whenever I had time to focus on music.
Practise when you travel, in the train or in the car. Practise before you sleep, in front of the tv.

With or without the saxophone, with or without making sound – it is always possible to practise.
In this video I will give you all the ins and outs of visualizing and silent practise.
