Articulation is one of the most important parts of jazz playing and generally saxophone playing.
When you get your articulation right you get a much more defined and clear jazz language!
With articulation the biggest aspects of jazz playing comes together – timing and phrasing!

Training your scale patterns is great exercise, but are you training the right scale patterns?

Getting from playing rather simple chord note solos using a couple of chord notes to using scales and playing longer lines within the scales is a thing. 
Chord scale relationships are one of the fundamentals in playing jazz.

In jazz music there are so many tunes where you have long stretches of minor chords on which you should solo.
Just playing a Dm7 tends to get a bit tedious after a while.
Getting more vocabulary playing minor chords is both important for one or two bars and on long stretches of minor chords.
